Walk With Ease

WWE-AF b&w

The Arthritis Foundation Walk with Ease is an evidence-based program that is proven to reduce the pain of arthritis and improve your overall health.

North Shore Nordic Walking offers this guided 6-week walking program for facilities or small groups, contact me for additional information.

The Walk with Ease program includes the following:

  • Health education on topics related to arthritis and exercise
  • Motivational strategies, group sharing and discussion
  • Warm-up, 10-30 minute walk, and cool-down

This program was developed specifically for adults who have arthritis and who are interested in beginning a walking program. Others who do not have arthritis may find the program beneficial if they have the desire to incorporate walking into their lives. Participants must be able to stand or walk for 10 minutes without increased pain.

Walking with Poles are not included as part of this program, but participants may use poles or other walking aids if needed. Contact me if you wish to learn how to walk with poles prior to beginning the Walk with Ease program.

The Walk with Ease program can also be done through the Arthritis Foundation mobile phone app or online resource, but joining a walking group encourages participation, enhances self-efficiency, and includes social interaction with other participants who may have arthritis.
